Draw Mohammed Day! (via The Daily Dish)

This issue, from the Danish artist years back up until today makes my blood boil.  Yes, I know it images of the prophet are offensive to Islamic people.  Guess what- in America you do not have the right to not be offended, sorry.

We have to put up with Neo-Nazis (I hate Illinois Nazis), Klansmen, Fred Phelps and all sorts of idiots and despicable people, but they have the right to their disgusting ideas so long as they’re not threatening or harming people. You may be personally offended or angered, but those are the breaks here.  May your deity of choice or the universe, etc bless the first amendment.

It used to be there was some solidarity in the media when it came to things like this (like printing said controversial image in all newspapers / showing it on all news stations) but it seems like in recent years in this case the media writ large have failed.  Good for those that will show some spine, and stand up for free speech against intimidation and violence.

As a related aside, I’ve always agreed with the sentiment that the day a constitutional amendment passes making burning the American flag illegal is the day someone is justified in burning one.
